Luke's 4 Month Doctor Check-Up~

Luke had his 4 Month doctor check up including shots! He showed off his rolling skills for the doctor and nurses and they were very impressed. Everytime we put him on the exam table he'd roll over! Here are his ratings for this month.

• Height: 25-1/2 inches - 75 percantile
• Weight: 13lbs 14oz - 25-50 percantile (skinny little guy right now)
• Head: 43.4cm 75-90 percantile (uh-oh, he has a big noggin again:o))

Luke is 4 Months Old!

Ok, seriously Luke has accomplished so much this month it's crazy! 2 months ago we were in NC with Eric, Lauren and their little Elli, she was just 4 months at the time. I was able to see a glimpse of what Luke would be doing at that age and thought there is NO WAY he'll be doing those things in just 2 more months! Sure enough he's doing them. Sometimes it just baffles me to know that babies brains are developing this quickly.

Luke's big accomplishment this month was rolling over. He now rolls over all the time. For a while we were just practicing with him on his play mat and he would get it, but not really on his own. Then one day, Dave and I left Luke to play on his mat as usual, when we came back we found Luke on his belly with his arms holding up his upper body. He was looking around probably wondering how the heck did I do this?!

That night we decided maybe it was time for him to retire from his "swaddle me" contraption and upgrade to the sleep sack. Luke was getting strong and fighting his little arms out of the "swaddle me" almost every night. The first night in the sleep sack went smoothly, with no waking up in the middle of the night, he seemed to like it. The second night was a different story. He was waking up every three hours because he would roll himself over on his tummy and was too tired or maybe too frustrated to roll himself back over. I was tired and worried this was going to happen every night! The third night Luke did the same thing but this time we decided we would let him cry it out a little and after a few minutes of him rolling from his belly to his back and crying he finally fell asleep back on his belly. It was the cutest thing to watch via video monitor. He's finally back to his regular sleeping habits again but instead of sleeping on his back he now sleeps on his belly.

We learned that Luke rolling over has its pluses and minuses. The plus, he's developing and it's cute to watch. The minus, we can't leave the room he's in as much as we used too, he'll roll himself all the way on the other end of the family room. We no longer can leave him in his bassinet to get work done, he's rolled in that too. And we have to strap him in his swing. I guess we should brace ourselves for when he starts crawling right?;) By then we may have to purchase a baby fence for the house so we can get work done;)

Luke also went thru another growth spurt this month. Those always throw a curve ball. Just when we got him on a good nap schedule, feeding schedule and night-time sleep schedule his little body decides to grow again! It lasted for about a week and he ate every 2 hours again with waking up an extra time in the night. We think we're finally back on our schedule again which is nice.

Some things we love about Luke this month:

• He giggles giggles giggles! He loves to look at you and then all of a sudden burst into laughter. You wonder what he is laughing at?!
• He's mister personality and sociable. When we go out he's always smiling, laughing and talking to strangers.
• He opens his mouth and let's out a long ahhhhh sound. It's quite pleasant and rather controlled the whole way through the sound. He could possibly be musically inclined?!
• There were a few times we would be driving and he would be wailing in the backseat. Usually music stops him but for some reason he just wouldn't stop. I was looking through some of my CD's and found a song that I love and would play over and over again during Christmas. It's called, "Here with us" by Joy Williams. As soon as I started it Luke immediately stopped and looked around with awe. Out of curiousity I thought, was it the song that got him quiet or something else? I played the next track and he started to cry again, then I put the other song back on and he stopped again. I started to think, is it the sound and tune of the song? I'd like to think it's the words to the song and having to do with Jesus's birth:). I'm kind of thinking it may be the fact that I played this song over and over again while he was in my womb. Who knows, but it's pretty cool to think about!
• We love watching him sleep. He looks so cozy!
• Now that it's summer we love to take him to the pool and to the lake. He is so cute in the water and by the end of the day he's wiped out and takes longer naps:)
• He likes to play with his teething toys, he may be teething. He's  been tugging on his ear, knawing on his little fingers and drooling. Apparently signs of teething...
• He holds his feet with his hands
• We tried to put him in his exersaucer and he still has to grow about 6 inches to reach the bottom:)

Some of our not so favorite things about Luke this month:

• The little booger learned how to throw tantrums this month. My goodness, they're loud! I think some of them were probably started because he was hungry, and me not realizing he was going through a growth spurt at the time. I felt really bad:(
• He fights his sleeps. He's been doing this, but now that he can throw tantrums sometimes it can get a little exhausting. Poor little guy just doesn't know or understand he's tired and the only way to express it right now is through crying:(.
• He constantly pulls my hair. Now that he knows how to grab things this is the first thing he always sees.
• Still spits up alot...

And of course we can't end the blog without our monthly photo shoot with Luke. Notice the hair, it's growing back!

Fun in the Sun!

We spent our Memorial weekend at the lake with the family and had so much fun! It was Luke's first time on the boats. He's so tiny, his "infant" life jacket was huge on him. Can you believe it, but I realized afterwards I didn't take a single picture with him in his life jacket! Well, we'll be spending most of our weekends at the lake so you should see a post with him in the life jacket soon. The life jacket looked pretty uncomfortable on him but once the boat was cranked, the vibrations of the motor and the sounds but him right to sleep! We enjoyed our relaxing weekend and are looking forward to more!

Luke is 3 Months Old!

We're a little late with the posting but Luke is 3 months old! His next doctor's appointment is at 4 months so we don't have any updates on his height and weight. It seems like he's still growing but still has plenty of room in those 3 month clothes. We'll see if he grows out of them by the end of the month.


We were again busy busy this month with some Hi's and Low's. I sadly had to make a tough decision to leave my side business partnership due to some differing opinions on how to maintain the business. I have however decided to continue in floral design and just completed my first wedding on my own!

I started back to work, working from home. I am so thankful and blessed to work for a company who were willing to allow this. With my commute from Dallas to Atlanta it would not have been enjoyable for me to continue knowing I was missing out on Luke's first moments. I have truly enjoyed getting back into the swing of things. Dave has been a huge support and encourager by watching Luke while I work in the study. It's been nice to take a break every few hours to hang out with my two favorite boys:).


I celebrated my first Mother's Day which was surreal. It's still really hard for me to think that I'm a MOTHER. It's even harder for me to think that I'm 27 and I'm old enough to be a mother. I still have really vivid memories of me being a little girl hanging out with my Mommy! Now, several years later I have a child of my own. I now understand the kind of love my Mom/parents have for me. People would tell me once I had a child you will experience a love that can't be felt by/for anyone else. I didn't understand this until I saw Luke for the very first time on February 10, 2011. I can honestly say I never boohoo'd more tears of joy in my entire life until that moment. I NEVER felt the love I had for this little being with anyone else. He's so small, fragile and beautiful. It really put God’s love for us in perspective immediately. I understood more then ever the love God has for us by sending his ONLY son to die for our sins so that we can live for eternity with him. I see why God created this moment for a husband and a wife to experience.


We had guests in town from Florida one week and then following we had Grammy and Pop-Pop come to visit from Tampa! Last and possibly the greatest thing of all we finally closed on our house and are soon to be moving! 


Some of our favorite things:

• When we hear Luke playing by himself so intently we like to sneak in the room to see what he's up too.
• He giggles when you smile. He laughs when you laugh. I think it's contagious to him.
• He has went from eating every 2 hours during the day to every 3 hours. That's 5-6 feedings in a day instead of 8! This is HUGE!
• He went from sleeping 6 hours in the night to now 8 or more hours! There are have been a handful of nights where he slept for 11 hours. I'm thinking by 4 months we'll be able to get him on this schedule:).
• He LOVES his play gym. He stares at the animals and actually can grab them knowing that he's grabing them.
• When he's looking in the other direction we can call his name and he'll turn to find us.
• He's starting to not mind tummy time.
• He's almost rolling. By 4 months he should get the hang of it!
• He sits up and stands up so well. (of course we are holding him while he does this)
• His cry is still pretty adorable and he has that bottom lip pout he likes to show us.
• He LOVES ceiling fans.
• He's our little Koala bear right now. When he lays on his back he brings his feet together and almost clasps them.
• He'll give you a big sweet smile right before he pukes all over you.
• When he takes his naps he likes the blanket to cover his face.
• Some of my nicknames for Luke are: Wittle Wuke (may need to be careful with this one, it could cause him to have a speech impediment!) Little Munchkin, Doodle Bug, Little Stinker, Messy Luke, Stinky Luke, Little Man, etc.
• Luke is very animated. I think we may have a little comedian on our hands in the future:).
• Luke is a huge flirt.

Some of our not so favorite things:

• He still spits up ALOT! When I say alot I mean he more like hurls. It's so embarrassing when someone wants to hold him, it never fails, he almost always pukes on them. To me my curdled breastmilk is tolerable but to someone else it's probably disgusting. It's so embarrassing.
• He still has diaper blow-outs which causes lots of laundry loads and spot cleaning his carseat:(.

Last and possibly the best part, is Luke's 3 Month Photo Shoot!

1 Surprise Party + 1 Wedding + 1 Vacation + 1 Two Month Doctor Visit = A month that flew by!

Wow this month flew by! We cramed so much in this month and had so much fun! Sharon and I planned a surprise 50th Birthday Party for my Mom, I started back to work with a wedding, then we went on our first vacation as a family of three and to end the month with a bang Luke had his 2 month doctor check-up with shots! All the while our little munchkin was a trooper through it all. Here are some highlights from this last month!
The Surprise Party!
This was a tough one to pull off. I see my Mom all the time now and too keep something like that a secret was almost impossible! It turned out amazing and was so much fun to plan!



The Wedding!
Mommy tried her first big wedding with the MOSS girls. Little Luke and Daddy tagged along for the ride so that I could continue to breastfeed. It was a success!

The Vacation!
Our vacation was amazing! My Mom and I headed for our road trip to NC without the men, they had to come later. Since it is an 11 hour drive we decided to make a pit stop at the half way point and stayed at a hotel. Luke did great the first day! The second day Mr. Garmin sent us on a little goose chase and took us an hour out of the way. We were NOT happy. I so badly wanted to throw that thing out the window! Note to self, trust the Iphone map versus the Garmin map:). With all things considered our little man did a great job on his first road trip! We spent the whole week relaxing in a beach house with Grammy, Granpa, Uncle Eric, Aunt Lauren and Elliana! It was SO much fun and great to see Eric and Lauren and finally meet there sweet Elli! We love you guys so much and miss you already. I miss kissing Elli's sweet little face!







The 2 Month Doctor Visit!
He did such a good job!

• Height: 23-1/2" and in the 75 percentile
• Weight: 11lbs 12oz and in the 50 percentile
• Head: 41cm and in the 75 percentile. He know longer has such a big noggin;)

He follows you with his little eyes. He stands up while you hold him. He holds onto things. He tugs at his clothes. He clasps his hands. He sucks his hands. He smiles even more (he has a bashful and flirty smile now that is so cute). He laughs. He slept for 9 hours two nights, we're hoping to see more of this:)!

Major regrets for this month: We HATE that we didn't record Luke getting his shots! I thought it would be so cruel to do so but he was so darn cute through it all we would have loved to capture the moment. We will definitely be recording his 4 month shots and will post it on the blog:)
